Leilani, very interesting and thought provoking image. At first, I was bouyed by the lovely colours and the hand prints - but then read your title and noticed the colour of the prints and the way they 'bled'... a whole different interpretation.... cool. M :)

There's great subtlety throughout your imagery which sometimes leads to an ambiguity. Masterful stuff.

Too many people who shoot color images don't understand color theory, or at least have an innate sense for it (myself included). And the single most important aspect of color theory is that all the tones need to compliment one another.

 

I respectfully submit that this image succeeds on composition but is elevated to greatness by how the subtle hues of blue and orange/red work together.

 

A wonderful semi-abstract piece.

Bold in implication, subtle in colour and execution; simultaneously earthy and ethereal.
