I love this picture - the colors and the subjects. But for some reason it hasnt received any attention.

Is it just me?

Is this picture boring ?

Please comment - or just rate it so I can get an idea on how people react to this image

thanks - itai

Dear Itai,

I have just rated it 9/8. This is one of the best Photographys I have seen in photo.net in the last two years (more than 1500 ratings done). Dont worry about the reaction of photo.net community. They like mostly glamour, sunsets, flowers, landscape and outdoor. They dont like creative, reportage, street and artistic photography so much.

Like colour composition and the perspective. You have catched the atmosphere of the moment very good.

Congratulation!

Nice colors, composition and subject matter. Too bad the girl's eyes are slightly hidden. Maybe that's what you where going for?

Well done!

Very pretty work. To me, the eye is first drawn to the mom, near the center of the frame, and the surrounding light of the bus window, both of which are lighter than the little girl. The girl's eyes are an issue, as noted above. But I look at her and my eyes still want to go back to the center of the picture and the light area. Keep shooting!!

Nice photograph. Compositionally it works, but I also feel seeing the girl's eyes would have made it better.

I feel much the same as you do, about all this looking and no rating. So if you would be so kind as to do the same for me. Thanks! Keep Shooting!

Nice colors and composition. Seeing the mom in the background I like. She looks bored and like this is just another day for her while her daughter is playing around, having a good time. Perhaps you have captured the joy in simple things you find in childhood that you lose in adulthood. Regarding the eyes - you CAN see them. At least I can. She is playing peek-a-boo with you. You've caught a moment. If you could see her eyes completely we might not get the moment. Well done.

I like the subtle color palette. I like the total mystery as to where we are and where we are going on this bus. Thank you for sharing the picture with us.

I like the girl playing peek-a-boo or being shy, whichever it is makes it a playful image. I'd prefer it without the mother but you couldn't really ask her to move and changing the angle to cut her out would spoil the shot. Asking her to smile and look at her child would have made her more part of the image and an increase in the dof to bring her into focus or moving back if too close for this.

hi, it is a nice shot, but like some others above said, i could have been a bit better. You´re right about thecolours and also the depth of field is perfect, but i don´t like the still recognicable look of the mother. for me it would have been perfect, if she had turned her face to the left side. and perhaps a tiny bit more eye of the girl would have done it too. however its a nice shot.

take care

I disagree completely with reviewers above who want to cut out the mother and show the girl's eyes. The girl hiding behind the seat is half the story--it captures her playfullness. If you could see her eyes it would just be another in a litany of cute kids smiling at the camera. The mother in the background, looking slightly bored (though we don't know for sure because she's purposely out of focus) creates a great foil for the girl's playfullness.

I love the composition. This is a difficult exercise as you have to compose with what you have it the bus and there is nothing much you can change and you succeeded in making a not only funny but also well composed and balanced picture.

Looking at the other comment above I like to add that I thing that the mom or who it is not distacting at all, she is blured enough that we understand she is not the subject despite being in the centre. The fact that we do not see the eyes of the girl is interesting, we do not know if she can see us (you) If the picture would have been better withthe eys of the girl I dont know but it would have been another picture and that all.

I like the use of depth of field in the image as well as the color (soft) and, of course, the light. It has a nice "warm" feeling and the child adds to that.

Good job.

I like the fact that the girl is playing with you as you depressed the shutter...it gives it a timeless sense of fun and innocence. Look back at it again in another 50 years and this picture would be very very well appreciated, like how we always look in awe at photographs of people from the 50's and 60's.

Well - it looks as though you've received a few comments on this one! The colors are great and I don't think you should remove the mom at all. She adds to the depth of the photo. The child's eyes slightly hidden add to the "peek-a-boo" story behind the pic. All in all - I consider this to be one of my favorites. A lot to be seen here. Thanks.

This picture is really a classic! Stands out on its own: DoF, lighting and colour tones, composition, mood,...Top job!

I am a beginner to photography and am reviewing "Street" photos as that genre interests me quite a bit. Over the last 6 months (since acquiring my Canon 400D) I have viewed thousands of photographs from many books and web sites. I don't recall any that I like more than this. I just want to keep looking at it. I'm hoping to learn to create images as interesting as this one.
