Shit, sorry Vince. I don't spend any time here any more so I missed a new shot from you...

You have to live in the most magical place on earth. All I can think of is sitting in that chair with a bunch of cold ones. Amazing image bro...

Yeah what the hell? How'd this slip by my radar? I noticed Mr. N had updated on my "Interesting People" list, and just a name below that was YOU, Vincent, and this has been here for weeks?!

I'm viewing this at the height of my winter duldrum, too. It's March 1st, and it's 38 degrees and threatening "wintry mix" tonight. So...

...It's marvelously appealing - as usual with your stuff. The composition is great, giving the eye multiple points in the frame to let the eye settle on before it's done browsing, and it's all glorious things they settle on, too. Well done!

Why Velvia 50 over 100?

And hey - sorry Walt pointed over to the gal/dog shot, which I'm quite certain wouldn't be half as well-received if there weren't a nose-pieced blonde in the shot.

Hi, Vincent.

I just happened to follow a link from Chris's page to this photo. Just wanted to add my congratulations, for what it's worth. Wonderful image.

I shot Velvia for a while, but have reverted to Kodak 100G for most of my slide stuff because I'm in the midwest and it seems to give me better colors for the area. Ocean stuff probably is better on Velvia.

Anyway, love your stuff. I know the TRP thing is frustrating. I don't know of anyone who is really pleased with it. I would probably be more displeased if I was as good a photographer as you are.

Best Regards,

Barry

Vincent, great shot with excellent depth, stunning composition and vivid colors. The shadows from the palm trees give it the finishing touch.

I would just love to sit there and chill out with a couple of beers. It raining and dull grey here in Finland today so looking at this is rather uplifting. I checked out the horiznotal version too but I prefer this one. It seems most restful.

Woouw, this is a dream ! The colour of the sea is amazing, perfect composition. I love the shadow of the palms rather than the palms themself. cheers Jana

Lovely image Vincent, yes I do agree the new average TRP sytem seems terribly warped. Still don't understand how really bad images get listed.

Vincent, another winner, love the shadows, as Walter has already mentioned, makes you think about the other side, the one you can't see. Colors are just beautiful.

Sell it to the Hawaii Bureau of Tourism or something...

Great capture, superb colors, relaxing presence of the umbrella and the chaise-longue. Bravo!

Looking forward to getting your input on my latest work,

Vince-See my other comment on your horizontal composition of this as well. I think I like horizontal better (I think getting down of the level of the chair and umbrella is more pleasing to me...it makes me feel like I'm on the beach). One thing I prefer about this shot, is the neat shadows you get from the surrounding palm trees. I know some people hate shadows of things that aren't in the shot, but I think it works here. Lastly, when you stand on the beach in Hawaii, is the water really that teal color and the sand that tan color that you see in this shot? If it is, I can't wait to go see it! I suspect it is because I have been to VA/NC/SC beaches all my life but when I took a marine biology course in San Salvador (the Bahama's island) the water was pretty spectacular! (wish I knew more about photography back then--what a golden opportunity that would have been!)

No the water is not like this all of the time. Not by a long shot in fact. But let me tell you; in the heart of the summer, in the middle of the day, when the sun is OUT in full force, this IS what you will see with a pair of Maui Jim's on your eyes. Is mesmerizing actually. In fact, I cannot tell you just how many times I put the gear down when finished shooting and then went in for the swim!

Just one of the perks of this job...
