david robinson 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Welcome back Don. Your work is getting stronger. I will leave this to others to give you more competent technical critiques as portraits are not my strong point. What I can say is that I like the painterly tones here. Your play with light is subtle -- even the folds of her sweater in shadow show detail and texture. Also a very pleasant emotional quality pervades this scene including the relaxed look your models. The one quibble is with the softness in the foreground. Was this intentional? Anyway, like I said, this image shows tremendous development of skill... Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted February 11, 2006 Thanks David. It has been a busy year so far. The lighting was natural lighting comming through a sliding glass door. I went for a softer foreground to try to de-emphasize the dog in the foreground in the picture. Because he was so much closer I didn't want to give him a big bottom, I think even dogs can be a little vain. I also wanted to pull the objects in the background more into focus too. trying to bring out the silver picture frame. I am now just beginning to start some commercial shots and hope that I will be able to post more of my environmental portraiture in the near future. Thanks for stopping by and having a look. david robinson 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Don another strong point here is that the angle of Lora's face and that of the cup match up. Well done, Don. Link to comment
