abstractedge2005 0 Posted January 29, 2006 Quite honestly I am totally afraid of submitting photos for critique etc because of the harshness of others on this site... Not complaining.. only a novice who enjoys photography and, would like to continue to improve my skills... constructive comments appreciated..thanks.... Link to comment
J.W. Wall 3 Posted January 29, 2006 Very pretty. It's a really tight crop, nice identification photo. Sometimes people leave space for the bird to "move" (such as, in front of it), also with people in some shots. Your choice here is nice, a tad close for my eyes, but nice. Keep shooting! design8r 0 Posted January 29, 2006 This is great, there's an X symmetry in the photo. The colours and focus are great too! A bit too closely cropped perhaps. 6/6 Link to comment
excelguru 0 Posted January 29, 2006 Not much need to be concerned about this shot. I think it's very good. The close cropping is okay for me, but I can understand if some people would want a touch more space, especially at the beak. Nice work. What camera & lens did you use for this? The sharpness is excellent. Link to comment
excelguru 0 Posted January 29, 2006 I just spent some time browsing through your gallery. You describe yourself as "only a novice"??? You under-rate yourself. Your work is very very nice. If you're only a novice then I must be, uh... what's below novice? Link to comment
alexkropp 0 Posted January 29, 2006 Love the color and the opposing directions of the blue jay and the branch. Sharp focus. I agree that more space in front of the bill is needed so the bird has some place to "look" in the photo. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment

forrest_andrew 0 Posted January 29, 2006 i'd agree on the need for more space around the bird - front and back. but, other than that, this is incredible. the strong diagonal of both the bird and branch work well. the sharpness and detail are awesome - a true testament to the beauty of this bird. and the color - wow - just amazing. CharlesBecker-Toronto 5 Posted January 31, 2006 lovely! I also really like your San Francisco shots-I was there just a few weeks before you were and I sure didn't get as good as yours. Forget being afraid!! cb Link to comment
toddk1 0 Posted January 31, 2006 great shot, crop is a bit tight and the overall color of this image is too blue, I say that because a bluejay does have white feathers on it somewhere and nothing here is white Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 31, 2006 WOnderful Rosie Beltran! and I see that everybody already told you about the space around the bird, especially my left :) But still beautiful :) Thank you, B:l:ana Link to comment
