kahkityoong 0 Posted January 31, 2006 The beautiful light you have captured makes this a winner. It gives much of the scene a warm luminous glow. The sweep of the landscape however is difficult to appreciate without a larger view option. Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Possibly the most spectacular shot ever taken of Crater Lake! Link to comment
zacker 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Marc, I have seen you work elsewhere and I must say, whenever i get discouraged i think of your work with landscapes and Im off like a shot. I think you need to get more credit and praise... thanks for sharing this with us. -zacker- Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Spectacular Marc. This shot alone no doubt made your 5 day effort worthwhile. Some minimal suggestions you might care to consider, in case no one's already raised them in the many comments this shot deservedly received, are lightening some of the grad effect in the blue sky areas, and possibly leaving a slither more snow along the lower edge if available, 'though I'm not sure about the latter suggestion - I'd probably have to see the result. farmer on the hill 0 Posted February 25, 2006 This shot is perfect and in my opinion you have managed to do what you set out to do. 7_7 Link to comment
edbook 0 Posted March 2, 2006 excellent image Marc. This version for the internet sharpened to show a light halo along the sky/rim line. You might try (immediately after sharpening) doing a Edit>Fade Unsharp Mask with a change in the blending mode to "Darken". The sharpening will be isolated to the dark side and light halos will disappear. Snowshoer? You should come up to Mount Tahoma Trails near Mt Rainier to our hut-to-hut system with grand views of Mt Rainier, the southern Cascades and Mt St Helens. http://mounttahomatrails.org Peace Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted March 2, 2006 A really fine halo there. I wouldn't have noticed it had you not pointed it out. I did a traverse of the Tatoosh Range earlier this winter - even better views of Rainier! Link to comment
uriah 0 Posted March 10, 2006 So cool to see photos like this. Makes you wanna be there and take in all that clean, crisp air! Justin Link to comment
digitalsteve 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I have to say this is an awesome picture. I rate it 7/7. This is probably just a fine point, but the left side (just above center) seems to be tilting down just a bit. I figure it is due to the lens at 17mm and the full frame sensor. It could be lifted just a bit using photoshop CS2 "transform, then warp" to more accurately reflect the actual scene. I realize the lake curves back at that point, but give it a try and see what you think. Kindest Regards, Stevewww.vibrantcanvas.com Link to comment
rluck 0 Posted March 19, 2006 much better then the usual crater lake picture, well worth the effort, 7/7 Link to comment

images_in_light_north_west 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Very nice ! I've tried Crater Lk and its a tough shoot, question with your ND filter you use on you 17-40F4L what mount do you use ? and no problems using it on 17mm ? or do you use the wider LEE size filter ? Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted April 14, 2006 I use a cokin 'P' wide angle specific holder with one filter slot. No vignette problems except very slightly when tilted at extreme angles to the light. Link to comment
realkuhl 0 Posted April 27, 2006 Not sure if people realize the effort to capture this shot - 5 days on top of 200 inches of snow (Marc, did you have a tent or just dig a snow hole?). No warm hotel to go to at night and start again the next day! I hope to someday see a large print of this - everything is so perfect in this photograph. Glad to be a fan. -John Lehmkuhl Link to comment
