susan stone 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Looks like a castle in the sky from another continent. Nice B&W capture, with good graphic detail and an air of mystery that I find appealing. Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Thank you Susan. I like your description. :) This platform is at Libby Flats in the Snowy Range of Southern Wyoming. Its quite high up (10,000 + feet if memory serves) You have a marvelous view of the Medicine Bow forest from that platform. And you can almost literally reach out and touch the Snowy Range mountains themselves. Its well worth a visit. The road up to it is closed in the winter because of deep snows. Frequent winds in the 100 MPH range that time of year might also play a role in the closure. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Larry I'll have to add this spot to my travel itinerary, I spend several weeks every year wandering around the Southwest and take a different route through Wyoming on my way South. Link to comment

mcgarity 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Susan you won't regret it. Thank you Kim. I can't remember the number of the road, but to get to this location you go west out of Laramie. About 30 miles up the road is Centennial. Thats a very very small town. You can't miss it though. Its where you start climbing out of the flatland into the mountains. For 30 miles west of Centennial the road has been designated as a national scenic byway. About half way along that stretch is Libby Flats. Its as pretty a location as you will ever see. If you like wildflowers go in July. The landscape is carpeted with them. Link to comment
