pjmeade 12 Posted January 27, 2006 Hello Nick, I've just seen the white van on the road next to the crater, it gives a very good indication of size. Judging by the colours, the sun has just gone down off to the right, the pleasant warm colours have gone and the reflected blue of the sky makes this seem immeasurably cold and desolate. It's a perfect example of showing what a place feels like. P Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Thanks Pete You were quite right about the other photograph of this remarkable place! - I only wish that the van was red or orange, as it is a little lost in the snow (this may of course be a good thing). You are right about the light, but it was sunrise rather than sunset - but I wasn't up very early as the sun rises in Iceland in December at about 10.30am! Fond regards, Nick. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted January 28, 2006 I would value your comments and observations. I would particularly like to know your opinions in comparrison to the similar shot of the same crater in the Iceland folder - Nick. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted January 28, 2006 Interesting phenomenon but not very attractive light. Karl Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 2, 2006 Nick, this is fine shot, really captures the 'ice and fire' idea of the Icelandic landscape well. I think this one works better than the previous shot for not having the shoulder of the volcano rim so obvious. The sky is well exposed too. I'm envious of anyone who has been to Iceland! Guest Guest Posted February 3, 2006 Love this Crater, and it looks like an Eye :) I think that the rest of the rock. my left, is kinda distracting a little bit, and I woudl like IMHO to see more of the foreground, but I presume that you had some problems with your angle daer Nicholas! Biliana (Give me FIVE!) ha ha :):):) Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Fantastic shot, Nick. I actually think it's a plus that the van is white. It's a hidden little treasure that, when you find it, makes you go WOW. Iceland...you sure do get around. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted February 8, 2006 Nicholas, a great place, well composed image. The circle is a powerful shape. We are going this week to Iceland for 1 week flydrive (11/2). Do you have some tips? thanks jana (you can mail me on janaonholiday@yahoo.com) Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Hi Nicolas! I prefer the perspective of this shot and the colour. I think you picked a difficult subject, simply because of it's size. I like the way the light divides the crater diagonally. I enjoyed the game of looking for the van/waldo. Link to comment
janet cull 0 Posted October 26, 2006 It does look other-worldly, doesn't it?? I'm glad Peter mentioned the van. I hadn't seen it and it took a bit of looking to find it. Very interesting. Link to comment
