mmmee 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Very nice color combinations. The DOF is perfect. The seperation of the snake from his 'bedding' is very well done considering they are the same color. Nice bit of motion blur in his/her tongue. Link to comment
rafikrkamel 1 Posted January 24, 2006 Nice details and very nice DOF. I also like the colors a lot. Regards! Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Thank you M.M. and thank you Rafik. M.M.' what you thought was the bedding, is the snake. It was a gigantic snake, he said it was about 90 pounds. Cheers. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted January 28, 2006 Urr...gives me the creep. Very good close up & colours, of course. The flick of its tongue gives a sense of motion. Link to comment
harnstrom1 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Perfect focus and very nice narrow DOF from the wide open lens. I guess the snake wasn't hungry at the moment. Nice shot. Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Thank yo Jan, As I was joking at he time I was shooting this monster, he could fit me with the camrea in his mouth, good thing he was not hungry! :o) Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted January 31, 2006 OK - what the heck got you so close to this guy? Awesome shot - and the motion in the tongue, agreed, adds a lot - brings it to life. Love that lens - isn't it great? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 31, 2006 I can't decide if I might like a little more space to the left. Is this just a color variation of a Boa? M.M.-I have to confess I had a chuckle at your original thought that his bedding matched his coloration :) I love the pose of the head and the tongue action. The darker area to the upper left adds a nice sense of drama here. Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Helo Laurie, How nice of you to stop by. This crop was done for 24X30 posters this shop is going to make. I was hard pressed as how to make the crop. I did it this way for two reasons. First and foremost, if I had left more space to the left, that would have kinda centered the snake for an 8X10. second, since the snake is actually looking towards the camera which is to the right of the frame, I was more comfortable with not having extra space on the left. No, it was not a Boa. I was told that it was a python! The bedding, I know! This snake was so huge and I had to get so close that I was affraid he might snap my head and spit the camera! Best regards. Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Christopher, Thank you forstopping by. I know, it was too close for comfort like I said above. Yes, this lens is probably the best deal out there for about a $100.00 or so, specially when compared to it's bigger brother 85mm 1.4 for a $1000.00 ! thanks again. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted January 31, 2006 This is great! I agree, perfect DOF, wonderful motion in that tongue! I love the yellow. Well done! Link to comment

bens 0 Posted February 3, 2006 agree with the praise above, very enjoyable colors, composition, motion blur, dof, etc. like the way his head comes out of the shadows like the sneak snakes can be. agree that in a perfect world some space on the left would help, given the emphasis on the tongue. ideally for me, i'd want to try it with the centered part around the mouth. cyrus khamak 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Hello Ben, Thank you for the critique. I was also limited by the door cage which I had to crop on the left. Don't you think since the snake is looking to it's left, to the direction from which the photo was taken, would not require the space to it's right anyway? Best regards Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Do you have a camera right now or you are camera less!! You asked me I photograph animals" Mar-o-marmoolak!" Just because they don't nag like the human subjects do. I'm using this account now. Regards. Link to comment

cyrus khamak 0 Posted February 8, 2006 Oh, Lord, Unlucky, you are! I feel bad beacuse you were encouraged by my Fire pictures and burned your sensor! 5D is still expensive. You have to get lenses and that will end up costing you way over $4,000.00. R1 seems to be a good choice. Good luck, wish I could help. Link to comment
