nicholasprice 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Hi Pete There is touching characterisation in this subtle, low key portrait. This is social commentry at its best! 7/7 Regads, Nick. PS you should scan more of your previous work, there are some wonderful gems here! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 24, 2006 Nice shot, Peter! The angle adds to feeling of dissipation. Do you still have your old Zenith B? Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted January 24, 2006 Hello Colin, no, I sold the Zenith when I bought the Pentax. To be honest, I was always forgetting to stop down, so lost a lot of shots. Dissipation? Hmm, I always thought of him in terms of syncopation - unsteady progression between bars! P Link to comment
manuelbayo1 0 Posted January 25, 2006 This is a great shot Peter. My first reaction was to suggest you to convert to BW, in a more conventional style for this kind of photos. However, the more y visit it, the more I feel the color version is the right one. Colors are subtle and ads interest to the image, which I feel is really great. I also bought a Zenith in the UK, about 28 years ago. It was my first camera. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted January 25, 2006 Hello Manuel, thanks for looking. I have done a BW of this shot, but I think the large area of pale shirt is a bit distracting. Best wishes. Peter Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Hi Pete. I don't think it is the shirt that is the problem here, I think it is the area of light from the window, providing a distracting alternative area to that of the shirt, which should be the focus of the shot. ...what do you think of my version?, although I prefer your "antique" colour version, and think that that one works well with no crop. Regards, Nick. Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Beautiful image and I also prefer the Color version, I feel, in this case it truly enhances the m"Mood" of the image. Great natural lighting and a great capture. Complimenti. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted January 25, 2006 Hello Nick, control of the window light is good. You also seem to have drawn out the lines in his face too. The "antique look" is produced in PS CS2 by going to grayscale and then to duotone. I played around with the yellow element to produce the most pleasing tones. By the way, you may have guessed, this was my father. Cheers Pete Link to comment
zorro1 0 Posted May 7, 2006 The colors here give me more feeling that I am at home...I can even hear the clock ticking away in the silence....so cosy..so human... Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 2, 2006 Peter, looked at this one, very well composed image.Light colors and shadows are well partitioned on the frame. A natural piece of life, Color version for me. Link to comment
