its a nice shot, i specially like the sky in background, however the bired and branch looks a bit flat, did you use flash?

I had another photographer tell me today that flash is recommended for birds. Possibly not so hot though. Nice photo. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments, I did use the integrated flash - As it was approaching mid day and a fairly clear sky the overhead sun was producing a lot of shadows against the branches and leaves. Also just to put things into context This was opportunistically taken in the back garden not on a shoot as such and there was little or no prep time. I was concerned he would fly away before I got a shot.
