gailsowder 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Rose photos are usually so overdone...I like your take! Link to comment
jeverz 0 Posted January 21, 2006 Timothy; This is a very beautiful flower with nice colorod frame! (thanks for your comments, and also your advice about the framing. You are right,in some photo's the white is just not good. I will keep that in mind the next time. About the leave, I cropped it just a little bit. Always like to take photo's from close. But in this case maybe a little more photo would be nice.) Hope you can understand my english! Regards, Ellen. Link to comment
ransford 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Your latest flowers are outstanding. I think this one is a real tour de force, amazing range of tone and color. For me this has a watercolor feel to it, and I love good watercolors, especially of white flowers. One request, however. Your images are a tad too big for my monitor, and I suspect for others as well (I use two 19" monitors), please make a little smaller Link to comment
timohicks 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Thanks Ransford; I really value your comments and have spent much time observing and enjoying your portfolio of flowers as well as numerous other subjects. The white rose was bracketed one sunny Saturday afternoon between 3:00 PM and 5:20 PM; I took around 90 shots representing variations on the light and position of the sun. There is nothing better than natural sunlight, white light, because it carries all of the colors in the electromagnetic spectrum. I find the mid to late afternoon sun most revealing through the lens with blues and yellow-gold values and can usually pull many of those colours out in Photoshop CS2. The effect that I appreciate most with this blend, however, is that the white areas are not washed out. I am sure this is due to good exposure before I edited it in Photoshop. Thanks again for the comment; I am always inspired by your comments and your work . . . Tim Link to comment
timohicks 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Thanks Ellen, I too have given my life to Christ. Your work and unique perspective are poignantly innocent and you have been busy posting your work on Photo.net. Never give up your style it's a refreshing contrast to the competitive edge most others seek. Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted February 28, 2006 This is my favourite in this series, I think for the similarity in the background and flower, it enhances the delicate quality of the petals. Nice sort of flowing composition. Original too. Link to comment
jeverz 0 Posted April 14, 2006 Just read your answer on my comment! Thanks for that Timothy! Link to comment
jana 1 Posted April 19, 2006 Timothy, The white colour is difficult to catch, you did here so well ! Beautiful range of tones. I would prefer a white frame with a tiny little edge of a hue between the frame and the rose to keep the image fragile and delicate. cheers Jana Link to comment
