visual ingenuity 0 Posted December 26, 2001 Very nice, very interesting. It took me a while to figure this out. I have never seen outdoor lights like this. Nice art. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted December 29, 2001 Interesting. I like it, but I'm sure it could have been much better than this... I'm love darkness in photography, but here, I feel it's a bit too much, because I don't feel the need for so much background in fact. The real subject - the street lamps - ends up a bit lost in my opinion. I would certainly advise to go for close-ups. I'm sure you would get much more spectacular images... Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted December 29, 2001 Thank you for the constructive comments, Marc. Indeed, cropping the image (to exclude the dark sides) produced a more dramatic effect. I'll try shooting from a different angle on my next trip. I wanted the tree slightly visible in the background to give a perspective of relative size, otherwise the scene would look like a bunch of lit dental mirrors! :-) Link to comment
wyverndude 0 Posted March 21, 2004 I really like this! The thumbnail caught my attention; I thought it was a still life of glassware, and that intrigued me -but a closer look, and this was a found scene! Excellent capture of the opportunity... this is the sort of thing that would intrigue me -and take me half a dozen shoots (if ever) to get it right. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 22, 2004 Thanks, Bryce. What wasn't mentioned was the 3" layer of dead insects I had to clean off the the surface of the inground lamps; you'd think bugs would be wise to hot lamps by now. :-) Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted November 14, 2008 Rebecca, it's a simple picture of another artist's creation that's very striking to see in person. Thanks for digging deep into my humble portfolio. :-) Link to comment
