Thanks for coming back. Actually it's 1.7, not 2, steps down but your guess is very close. Good eyes. So by telling you that I did this on purpose when I took the shot explains my intention? I think this is just different personal taste and I do value your input. Thanks again for stopping by.

... and say that this is a great image. I would not lighten it - it is effective the way it is now. The fact that most of the image is dark increases the formal abstraction of the image: the parallel wings, etc.

Thanks for stopping by and you speak out my mind - the parallel wings. Any body can tell that these are 2 egrets so my intention is not to show the 'detail features' of the egret but their 'elegant postures'.

Simply stunning, Jerry. Very well captured (and certainly good enough for a POW). You caught an excellent moment of action here. As far as the tonal range, I agree that some underexposure here is necessary, but it does seem a bit too dark to me. However, Todd's version seemed far too light for me. I would suggest deepening the shadows in the back and lightening the birds just a bit. Just my opinion, of course, and it is certainly very good as it is.

Jerry, Ditto ALL the positive comments above, This reminds me of a great shot that was in Pop Photo a while back, could this be part of that set of photos?.....Jim

Thanks for stopping by. Do you mean 'Popular Photography' magazine? I've never sold any of my images to any publisher, never had an exhibit and never participated in any photo contest. There are a few individuals and websites that use a couple of my images with my permission. That's all. So I believe the one that you saw on Pop Photo probably is not mine.

Outstanding shot, the light is amazing, the movement is beautiful. I love that you've caught the repetitive angles, elegant lines, right at the perfect moment. Well well done!
