Wow, I like this composition, Emily. Reminds me of a trip to an Indian hill station a few years ago. I think the town was called Nianital (sp?). I have an image that is very similar to this - houses all on top of one another. Did you use a telephoto to compress the distance to achieve this effect? M :)

Yes, Michael - I used my 70-300 but I think it was a fluke that I was just at the right height on an opposing hillside (up near the Olympic Village) to capture this shot. Believe it or not I was actually on top of a tour bus so in hindsight I am thrilled with the end results. It is a little different than my community of 2,000 residents:-)

I think this may be one of those photos that looks best blown up, so that you can get right up close and see the indivdual elements, as well as standing back and seeing the collage of colours. Nice shot

Emily, I love discovering the background story to images. Like you were actually on top of a tour bus when you captured this! I remember one image I took where I was standing on an ants nest - knew it was a great composition - stood there long enough to take the shot and then jumped off quick smart. Did not sustain too many bites, thankfully... M :)
