timohicks 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks Rajeev for the comment; I took enough of these photos to put together a portfolio for publication. Link to comment
ransford 0 Posted January 17, 2006 I notice you signed this, but not the other with more saturated colors. Maybe you liked this better, I do. I liked the colors in the other until I viewed this one, when I realized the light and shadows were the essence of the image and strong colors got in the way. A good lesson for me. I think I go to BW intuitively, and now I'll think about it more (not that thinking always helps!) Link to comment
timohicks 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Actually I was prompted to try BlkW in a comment: Doeke Koedijk, January 13, 2006; 08:50 A.M. I like it as it is, but maybe try B/W? I am also a painter and reflected light is always essential to my compositions especially the blue from the sky. I was at a Photoshop workshop about three years ago where the renowned presenter gallantly removed the blue reflections from the concrete walk ways in a quadrangle surrounded by relatively small four story buildings. Needless to say I was not impressed (more like enraged). Technically I find fodder in both of them although this one I must admit is more simplistic because there are fewer values to compete within the composition. Now this is not entirely BlkW; I desaturated it about 70%. This way it reduces the complexity while preserving 30% of the natural lighting. My goal is to achieve this kind of clarity in living color. Thanks very kindly Ransford for the comment. Link to comment
