I've never tried a shot like this so my critque may not carry much weight. The good things I see here is a nice image of a common subject. It is simple in design and relies on the character and structure of the sand and sky. The colors are nicely done and the compostion is pretty good. But..there seems to be something missing...and I don't know for sure what it is. I think maybe it simply might be the commonallity of the subject and possibly because it is cut almost across the middle. When I look at a photo such as this I want to see the unusual..not so much the common. Sometimes an image comes across of a common subject that has such a unique and powerful lighting or the angle captures the light just a certain way that the fact it is of a common subject can be overlooked. This is a very nice image...but it just is not quite unsual enough to really catch the imagination. Stay with what you are doing because from what I can see here, you may probably understand pretty well what I just wrote about. Keep up the good work.
