neild 1 Posted January 13, 2006 An unusual crop, but it's good. The mixed colour/BW adds interst too! Link to comment
tholte 16,977 Posted January 14, 2006 A great model and I hope you shoot her some more. I don't like the color-BW mix, too gimmicky! I don't know how busy this road was but it looks like a great location with the trees on the left and the stripes of the road. I would take the model back to the same spot and shoot a hundred images - horizontals and verticals, in early morning or late afternoo light, different poses etc., etc. This location and this model in good light has potential. If you have time, look up the work of Chris Blaszyk (sp?) here on PN. You have a really good eye and lots of talent. Have patience and keep posting, it takes awhile before people discover your work. If the work is good, viewers will eventually come. Link to comment
wingell 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Nicely done. I love the upfront, in-your-face stance of the model. The black and white is a bit gimmickly, but it doesn't detract from the image. In this case, I think it's a plus. Keep shooting--and posting. Best...Bill Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Nicely done, nice model. Personally me too I find the partial desaturation a bit of a gimmick. BUT.... what really bothers me is the white line between her legs. When you compose an image, be careful for such details. Cheers, Tom Link to comment
guy3 0 Posted February 8, 2006 I think of a gimmick as something that doesn't quite work, that is not the case here, she is a real standout in a drab world Link to comment
nanette 0 Posted February 8, 2006 I'm surprised at the comments I've received on this shot even though I've never asked for any. In any case, thanks! I shot this while I was in school. We were doing fashion and this was one of the models so unfortunately I won't be taking any more of her. (We're in different cities). This is a major road and is often full of traffic, there just happened to be a red light for a few moments. The police later chased my class and my teacher off the road, so this was the best shot I got of the road. I agree with the feeling that this might be gimmicky (B&W with colour selection). I did this because of the red vehicle in the background, I thought it might destract from the model. I actually prefer it in colour and will try to post a colour version soon. About the lane stripe under the skirt, I have contemplated cloning this out but feel that it wouldn't connect the left side of the road to the right and have therefore left it in. If I had removed it, I would feel that the right side of the image didn't belong because of the perspective. Thanks for all your input, it's greatly appreciated and I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. :) Link to comment
