This image has so many stunningly beautiful elements. Your adaptation to black & white is wonderful - a great range of tones, and sharpness is what is needs to be for such a scene. I also like the radial falloff.

Critique-wise: I am so bothered by the sun being in the center. The horizon is also 50/50. I don't like the lens flare on the sun for this sedate, classic image, but it looks like it did come from the lens itself, and not a filter. I would have tried to play with the composition on this some when shooting it, if possible. If not, then post exposure. I think that location has the potential for one or more award-winning images, and I think you have the skills to bring it out. Thank you for sharing this interesting view.

P.S.- on my edit above - on looking at it, I would crop more off the top.

Thanks for the contructive critique S. Spencer!

Indeed while post-processing I too had been a little bothered by the centered sun. But for some reason I left it in the middle as statement. I'm so used to framing everything with rule of 3rds.. that I sometimes just get a kick out of violating it :)

As for the flare.. I'm not sure what you mean.. The relection on the water/pole? or the streams of light coming directly out of the sun?

I don't seem to notice any actual lens flare.

I was referring to the six-point star around the sun. I also notice the trapezoidal white area behind the center light post. They just seem to clash with the rest of the image.

Please don't think I'm picking your image apart. These are just some ideas and observations that sprang to mind. As I said, there are so many fine aspects to this image, it really caught my eye and my interest.
