ken_bufton 0 Posted December 20, 2001 Hi Justin. Great shot! I noticed you've frozen the action by using a fast shutter speed. While this is ok it doesn't convey a sense of speed which is what these cars are all about. Try a slower shutter speed and pan along with the car. The background will be blurred and the illusion of speed is given. You could also keep the camera stationary and wait until the car enters your veiwfinder. With a slow shutter speed the car will be blurred and the background sharp but the illusion of speed is still given. The two people in the red and white coats at the centre top of the frame are a bit distracting also! The framing could be a bit tighter too as there is a little too much foreground for my liking(the grass area).Place your hand over the grass area and see how much better the shot looks! Apart from that Justin I like your photo-well done. Link to comment
kc 0 Posted December 21, 2001 I think the ultra fast shutter speed works here because of the violence of the car broaching the curb and the spray from the track. Lowndes Falcon makes a great subject as well. Nice shot! Link to comment
jwedehase 0 Posted January 18, 2002 I like this one just as it is. It has just the right amount of DOF, and GREAT sharpness. Good job on that! And catching that inside wheel up, great. I'd only wish for a larger image. I also just noticed great juxtaposition with the Ford logo on the windshield and in the background. It's photos like this that prove there are some benefits to overcast weather on race day. Link to comment
