The pitcher plant is,like the more famous venus fly trap, a carnivore, luring insects into itsself with a smell, and then preventing them from getting out by tiny hairs pointing inward. Inside sits a pool of liquid which digests the prey. It;s nit really abstract except to the extent that viewing anything much closer up than normal effectively renders it abstract.
