The Challange

LenMarriott

Handheld, Auto @ f1.4 as per in camera meter. Converted to B&W using PS and 'Channel Mixer'. Unconventional crop to focus on the action and to eliminate unwanted background. Best, LM.

Sang Kyu, Yah, try getting a shot like this in the wild with a 50mm lens! :-) Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure. Best, LM.

Unbelievably nice perspective with that 50mm. Len, are becoming HC-B in the "wild" :).

Arthur, We've been told for decades not to underestimate the good old 'normal' lens. Who could disagree? "Wild"? And you feigned outrage when I referred to your urban safari as a zoo! :-) Since the animals are not moving neither patience nor timing come into play here. Also, because one cannot control the lighting, composition and DOF are the only two variables to contend with. I kind of like that! Best, LM.

Wow, what an excellent "wild life" shot! Wow again, because this is something totaly different with what I see as a city girl in the city's zoo! I always get a sad feeling -in the zoo- but not with this shot, nature has to go his own way...

Janet, Many thanks for taking the time to both view and comment on this shot. I'm happy to share the enthusiasm I had for this display with someone else, which is the whole purpose of posting here I guess. You see it as I do, sadly, nature's way. You've also reminded me it is about time I paid your portfolio a visit to catch up on what's new with you. Best, LM.

One of many photos of wildlife displays taken at Cabela's sporting

goods store in Dundee, MI. The odd aspect ratio was chosen to focus

attention on the action going on here and to minimize the store

background. The white of the polar bear and of the wolf tend to take

on unnatural colour tones from the incandescent segment of the

lighting so I thought converting to B&W would be the best choice.

I'd be happy to hear your comments on this and similar types of

subject matter and would especially be interested in viewing others'

similar shots. Best, LM.

Len, I think you've done a fine job of making this look real or believable. Nice choice of composition and angle.
