Lane to Grandma's

Note: This lane is not an impasse. On the top of the stairway, it goes right. The old woman was knitting some small tablecloths for sale to interested passers-by.

I would like to supplement this photo to the series "Slice of life"

in the folder Travel. Thank you for your attention!

Excellent shot, very well composed. I like the weathered colors in this picture. It evokes a lot of feelings. I would rate it higher if the lantern acted less distracting.

I'm glad to see you back finally, again, with a painting-like picture that is in the same style as the previous two shots in your Travel folder, now telling a new story. Did you paint it in the meantime?:) (I remember that in one thread you mentioned you learnt painting before, right?)

This one has a marked DOF. It draws my eye from the mosaic stairway in the foreground, via the steep stairway in the middle (looks a bit too dark for me), to the vivid main figure (quite small, but I feel I can see her facial expression, anyway). The weathered wall in the background adds a sense of simple lifestyles to this unique picture. I'm so attracted by this scene, that I would go the whole steps up to the old women, talk to her and buy some tablecloths from her...

Julia, your photos are moving story tellers. This one reminds me of Prokofievs "Tale of an Old Grandmother". I like the course of the stairways and the pastels of the walls. Excellently executed. I have no problem with the lantern, but, I find the electric line a bit distracting.

Julia, loved your image. Was it in France? I was in Italy recently, and had an image in my mind just like yours, but was never able to capture it. Great composition, and I like the warm colors.
