sweeney 0 Posted October 20, 2006 I really love the comments by thoses that don't live on the coast. There are so many who have never witnessed the power of the ocean. I can't imagine. Great shot to build appreciation of the sport. Yes, it's real people. Nice shot, from your neighbor in Monterey. Link to comment

mcpoljak2003 0 Posted July 9, 2007 Whoa. Where to begin? Perfect light. Gorgeous detail in the highlights. The blue/gray color tones are delicious. Technically this is superb. You can read a number of interpretations into this. The impossibly fragile nature of man against the snarling beast of mother nature. Does the crest on the wave not look like a mighty jaw about to close on our friend, swallowing him forever? Does his sideways glance, not looking directly at the wave, or at least directly at the part of the wave we, the viewers are seeing, seem to convey a bit of indifference or contempt, as if to say, it's not thaaaat big. He appears to be leaning forward slightly, moving towards what should be run away from, challenging the swell to do it's worst. Or is it the steady gaze of knowing that the chaos will only last a few seconds, nothing to be too worried about. It will pass, like most everything, in time. Whatever it is, I can certainly tell you that you'd never catch me in a position like that. Thanks, MP. Link to comment
