Jenne Farm, Reading Vermont

randy_bray

Another often photographed Farm. Trying to see if the exposure looks right I tend to underexpose images and I'm trying to find the right levels that look good to most.

Randy, this is a beautiful image. Excellent composition. I like how youd framed the farm house with the trees on the left and right. The only feedback I could give you is, it looks a bit underexposed.

Randy, To me this is a great rendition in a realm of many possibilities. I noticed you used both a polarizer and an 81a, most probably wouldn't consider the 81a at this time of day. If you prefer the extra warmth in the image, why not, looks good to me.....I think a real problem we all face as photographer/artist is how do we want our images to look and just how do we achieve that result, and do it consistantly.....Jim

Hi Jim, I chose to use a circular Polarizer and an 81A due to a reccommendation from David Middleton who wrote the book "The Photographers guide to Vermont" I was trying to warm up the tones of the reds and oranges of the New England Autumn. My biggest sin seems to be underexposing images. I just recently joined PN, it's been very enlightening (no pun intended) It's filling a longstanding need for constructive criticism. Thanks for your opinions, I sincerely appreciate them.

Randy, I don't feel it looks underexposed. It just looks to me like the last rays of a sunset. Beautiful warm colors - I love it! I would like to hang it on my wall!

Thanks Sondra,

This scene was used in 2 movies, "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase, and "Forrest Gump" with Tom Hanks. It's also been used in Numerous commercials, this scene is equally as lovely in winter. If you ever head to Vermont, contact me for a list of places to visit.

I sure like this shot, Randy. Thanks for commenting on my photo. I really like my Canon 1DS MKII, but I think the 5D would be a better value... Good luck to you.
