Contrast of Texture

I like this one because of the rough grain of the wood versus the

soft delicate flower petals. Any thoughts or recommendations are

appreciated!

I like the photo, not because of the texture contrast, but simply for the rose and the angle of the shot.

To me, the wood is not rough, it is polished- I see the reflection. Perhaps try a railroad tie or piece of bark for a rougher texture.

Like Stephen, I don't see a lot of interest in the difference of textures, but in the rose and the angle at which it is shot. This is very nice, but it seems to me that some detail is lost in the flower. Could just be my monitor.

Yes, I do see a nice change. Did you adjust the levels?

If I remember correctly I played a bit with white in selective colors, a little bit with shadows and highlights, and finished with match color. I had been playing around with other pictures, too, so I might not have this exactly right. I'm glad I didn't offend.
