javilingo 0 Posted September 11, 2006 I am sorry to be a critic but... The really good thing that exists in this photo is the model. The setting is not correct according to my criterion and assurance that of different many people. If we change to the model it would not be the same thing ... 5/5 Link to comment

richard_ilomaki7 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Is it me or is this exquisite portrait dull and flat. There are no bright highlights or full blacks. It seems to me that it would greatly benefit from a bit more contrast. It does however have a very soft and gentle look to it, but this is negated by the white "Bokeh" above her head. These norhtern european women are almost as beautiful as those from northern India and Myanmar, IMHO Also, I do love those east block/ Ukrainian lenses! Cheers Link to comment
jonten 10 0 Posted September 12, 2006 I hate to be crass about this, but you guys are just lusting after the girl. Yes , I too think the picture is nice- by way of default. In other words Mr Romberg did'nt do anything wrong to screw up this portrait. But the reason that the shot is so strong is-,its the girl- stupid! In addition to that I'd like to say that , Romberg used the right lense, and the correct exposure , and he has the sense to know when to take a picture. But who would'nt under these circumstances? Why I'd go so far as to say that, you could take a picture of this girl with a throw away camera, and still have something good to look at. Yes , film is by far the way to go. The reasons are to me is the different characteristics and personality that film offers. I do not have much exprience with digital, but organic is always more rich and flavorful. If you don't believe that, take another look at the girl in the protrait. Please, I do not mean to offend the young woman in the picture. Its just my observation. one more thing. Mr. Romberg, beautiful! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted September 12, 2006 Just beautiful. The swirl of the oof trees is fabulous so I don't like the crops offered above - I don't know if there's a way of losing the (in my view) slightly excess headroom without losing some of that effect? If there isn't, don't bother! Link to comment
doctorbabaguy 0 Posted May 4, 2008 Outstanding model, pose, personality, framing, contrast and grain. Stunningly beautiful. But I think the oof bokeh is not very attractive, especially the cluster of light at top right of the model's head, the bokeh is harsh and detracts from the otherwise beautiful portrait. You can easily crop out those oof lights, though I think the balance of the original will be diminished but what you gain by eliminating the ugly bokeh will more than compensate what you lose in your original composition.
