This was a fun day recently where a mate loaned me his 1DMk2N. What

a great camera. My poor old 20D got very depressed after that (not

that it should as it shot 18,000 pics this year). Enjoy as I know

Miles (the rider) and I did. Have a great Christmas and Happy New

Year.

While I agree that this is an awesome shot, I would invite everyone to stop by your portfolio to see some of the shots you have taken with that raggety ole 20D. I assume that the friend that loaned you the camera was a camera salesman from Canon.....Just kidding. Personally I think you would take great motocross shots with a Kodak Brownie, but that is just my opinion. Keep up the great work down under, G'day mate. JH

spectacular photo 7/7 did you have it on a tripod? What f stop and shutterspeed. I really like the detail in the dirt and it really frames the subject well. Again Congrats.

Again thanks for everyone's comments, I do most appreciate them.

Jim, on behalf of my 20D thanks for your comments, yes it is still a great camera, the 1D just offers greater flexibility for this type of work (and handles the dust a little better). My mate Garry was most generous loaning me a 2 day old camera.

Derek, sorry about the lack of details. No tripod or monopod. 1/1000th at f4. ISO100, manual WB. Shot in high res jpeg. Shutter priority.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

This is excellent. The exposure & saturation not to mention the sense of movement you've captured are all perfect.

Great Action shot Graeme. I love the way the dirt it frozen in the air its almost as if the picture is alive. Very well done.

I have a 20D too and sure would like the camera body you used here. :o)

...said before, but I just wanted to add my appreciation of this great image - not easy to get such clarity, as I know all too well.

Not sure if I like the grass berm at the bottom of the image. IMO this would look better if you caught him looking up into the corner and spotting his next line.

For your comments and yes I sometimes crop in closer to eliminate these sort of berms, but didn't want to here. As for him looking to the next corner, well I have attached the next frame in the sequence and he is looking to the corner but it is a very after the fact shot. This is mainly because it was just a fun day for the riders and blowing berms aparts took precedence. Thanks again to everyone for the comments, I am humbled by them.

Superb photo Graeme. Clarity, colours and composition are spot on. Looks to me like one of the best in your portfolio.
