jstyles 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I love how the shadows fill in the missing torso. Actually when I first clicked on this just then, after it loaded I found myself clicking the up arrow several times to no effect (doh! trying to get the missing torso on the page...). Which brings to mind the interactive element of this presentation format, pics on a computer screen. First coming up as a small poor resolution jpeg, then, if interest is piqued, loading the larger version to zoom in on the scene. I used to get annoyed when people's large versions were far too large for the screen, but now I like the interactiveness of having to scroll around to see the whole picture, even though I guess it's usually unintended. Richard got me thinking about this stuff with his interactive pic. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 8, 2006 I think this is a picture that can to easily be missed in the competition for attention. But I find it an unusual and stimulating image which invites interpretation. Personally, I like how the jean-clad legs and bag divide the picture into distinct planes - light and shadow, action and repose, with a leg in each reality. Link to comment
blowingsky 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Thanks Julie, Frederick and Jack. This is a detail from a larger picture. I kept looking at the larger picture and realized that it was only this part that attracted me. Extracted, it abstracted into a kind of archetypal parable of life. Maybe a hieroglyphic code from our present time addressed to a distant future where it will be safe to decode and study. Or maybe I should switch to decaf. Definitely I should switch to decaf. sef1664877429 0 Posted January 10, 2006 A great bit of composition... there was a thread on the street forum a few weeks ago about whether a photo needed people in it to be considered a 'street' photo. This explores those ideas well, with the right panel more about lines and forms. I also like how the shadows of the two people compliment each other in shape. Interesting horizontals/verticals, as well. And I'm in know way refering to the legs... well, maybe. Link to comment
blowingsky 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Stephen: Thanks for the considered response. Well expressed. Interesting that you would respond to this, as you mainly have posted landscapes. However, your landscapes wring more emotion out of a viewer than many "people" shots. for example your "Attractions", "Shelter from the storm" and even "Frustration" (not technically a landscape, but still...) juice 0 Posted February 27, 2006 nice stylish shot. ...split in two ...love the idea, also the light with the shadows tells a completely different dtory to me than the legs goin home from shopping. (i bet she was on her cell phone :) ) Link to comment
kbg32 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Nicely seen abstract. Doesn't matter to me that it was part of a larger image. I like the continuation of the upper body in shadow to the left. Link to comment
