peter_daalder 0 Posted December 20, 2005 According to some, the world is still flat today...(!) The 'obvious' feeling from this image, for this viewer, is that some have never been able to look beyond the horizon. Let alone, acknowledge that the Earth's curvature is easily identified. As a matter of fact, Eratosthenes proved this - way back around 240 BC!This one has a graphical quality about it and we can still manage to identify that all important eye on the edge of this globe... Good theme fit? Maybe... Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted December 20, 2005 Theme fit I don't know - don't particularly care here anyhow. I like this image. Choice of B/W and the high contrast works for me here. Compositionally I'm not sure. I'm happy with the DOF, but get the feeling the tilt is not quite 'right' - can't justify that, though. In all a nice one, Tom Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted December 23, 2005 Sorry PT, I thought I had written a comment on this one, but I now see that I only did so in my mind... I like the theme fit, more conceptual than trigger, which here is a good thing. I probably wouldn't have got it though without the title, but that's no fault of yours PT. On aesthetics, while I like what you have done here and have no suggestions for improvement, I think another alternative would be to show the globe in an old looking study, with some other props (compass, reading glasses, naval books) and with soft warm lighting. I'll try to find a photo in that sort of mood and post a link. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted December 23, 2005 I actually managed to find the sort of lighting I was thinking about: see photos by Aaron Jones. Some even have globes in them... Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted December 23, 2005 Very good interpretation if the theme PT. The best theme fit to date in this folder in my opinion. I also like the way the edge of the world get lots in the heavy light, which is reinforcing the concept. Link to comment
