Not sure about your decision to crop source of light, I think I miss the depth that may have added, although I realize the flare concerns. Love this, anyway.

I had thought this one was less successful, though, because it's missing some of the wonderful boulders in the foreground. Maybe it's better? Best wishes, Hugo

One little thing that bothers me is how close the top twisting limb is to the edge of the frame. I cropped this, and then sharpened a bit. Lovely photo.

thanks for the crop david, i like it. the top part of the original is a little messy and your crop cleans that up nicely. i wish i'd had time to take more photos that evening, the light was really special! btw your photos are stunning.

thanks jeff. yes, david's crop was a great idea, i have to learn to be less cautious about cropping and this was a big help. you don't get light like that so often in this part of northern england, i was lucky to be there at the right moment and wish i'd had time to take more shots. it's a really haunting place. this week i'm taking a few shots on the beach in southern england and experimenting, some more will be posted soon.
