A Lone "Tree" in the "Desert"

george_vincent

This is what is commonly referred to as Christmas Tree Worm. It resides in a small tube. The "trees" are actually the ends of one worm. It sitting on top of a large boulder of coral polyps. Get too close and it pops back in its tube.

I feel it is flat, I would have preferred to see a slight part of the X'mas Tree rings. But just only a bit, this would have allowed you to show the X'mas Tree Worm structure and a little bit more of those tiny delicate feelers. This will also result in less dead space at the top, since you would see slightly more base coral.

The slight angle from the top would also cause a small amount of weak shadows between the X'mas Tree Worm delicate layers, hence giving it a bit more depth.

BUT no matter what it still is essentially a great shot, just being nit picky. Besides what I like to see may not be of interest to others.

George, these are amazing photographs. We have the same camera. What is the equipment that allows you to move underwater so effectively like that?

An alien landscape on Earth. So much of this planet is covered by water, yet we know relatively little about what goes on down there. Your underwater images are truly stunning. Mind you, I've got my feet firmly planted on the shore, at all times. I hope you can therefore appreciate my admiration for this type of photography. Some of the best I have come across on PN, thus far.
