stacey_demarco 0 Posted December 15, 2001 Well, G. ~ There's obviously something about your photographs that catches my eye! This one did immediately. Must be the "shadow"! What a great way of taking advantage of different times of day. This is very unique. Nice work. Link to comment
marcelo_salup 0 Posted December 16, 2001 Slightly more contrast would have improved what is an otherwise great picture Link to comment
gary_lott 0 Posted December 16, 2001 I would like the pattern better it the photo wasn't washed out. Use of the rule of thirds may have helped as well. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 17, 2001 This would work better if printed for higher contrast and overall darker tones. But that is just a technical matter. This is a striking, original shot with great lines. Wow! And love those old Nikons! Link to comment
gk photography 0 Posted December 17, 2001 Surreal. Very nice job catching this. It seems every element in here, from the string/rope to the paint to the girl, the ball, the shadow, and the lines (admittedly not parallel) all add to the effect. Tonally flat, unfortunately, but otherwise a very unusual photo. Nice work! Link to comment
raymond_liow 0 Posted December 17, 2001 What an interesting play of shadows. I would enjoy it even more if there was more contrast and if the shadow of the ball could be seen. Nevertheless, this is a smashing idea! Keep it going! :) Link to comment
gemccaw 1 Posted December 19, 2001 ...to all for your feedback. A bit of history on this photo: I made it 22 years ago, it was pretty much a grabshot, I had time to make three frames. I was out on the apartment balcony shooting a few frames of my (then) roommate. I happened to see someone on one of the lower floors (I was on the eighth) playing catch with the girl. I was shooting Tri-X but a gremlin ;-) got into the camera and set the E.I. @ 50. Heroic efforts were made to print this neg, and the FB prints I have actually look a lot better than this. gabrielma 0 Posted May 1, 2004 Gordon! This is excellent! It pays to have learned wet darkroom techniques and fudging it with Photoshop...Submitted for your approval... Link to comment
suvi_s 0 Posted October 27, 2004 I really like the over-exposure/low contrast of this shot - the way the whole scene seems about to evaporate completely. Perhaps a kind of epitaph to childhood and its bright transience. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted June 14, 2005 I am too lazy to dig up your email. Its easier to just comment in here. Nice geometrics on this background. All very subtle and simplistic. I want more contrast, but that would probably ruin the whole quiet intent of this shot.I wonder if you are aware of this: From his presentation on his bio an oldie but goodie And then something new: fun I have nothing blue for you. :) Link to comment
