kim_tural 0 Posted December 28, 2005 Thank you Sondra. That is a very nice thing to say. This is one of my favorite posts to date. It may be due to being there in between seasons and enjoying the transition into the birth of winter. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 4, 2006 A very nice sea- and wood landscape, seen through the branches, but not obscured (agree with Pnina here). And kind of lead-in, the ice in the midground. Reminds me of an old Dutch landscaper, Jan van Goyen (he was the first painter with this "through the branches" style, AFAIK). Cheers Carsten Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 7, 2006 Just changed my rating to 7/7 for this as it really strikes me every time I see it. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 10, 2006 What a nice visit from the both of you. Carsten I am honored by the comparison. I also thank you both for your help and answering my questions. You are so generous with your time and I really do appreciate it. I am currently at the cottage now and it's all covered in snow at this time. A winter wonderland it is. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2006 wonderful color and composition - love the birch :) I do wonder if it should be tilted slightly to the right though - it seems a little off. Could juust be me though ;) Well done! Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Alec, sorry I'm a little late with this but I was away in January and somehow I missed your nice comment. Thank you for taking the time out of you busy day. Hi Kathy, I'm glad you like my composition. I am studying the question of my horizon now. The terrain in that area is of lakes and rolling hills and nothing is straight. I may give it a try though just to see but the pine on the right may be even more tilted than it is now. I appreciate the question, thank you! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2006 I totally understand! That happens to me all the time here in Colorado - which is why I'm so paranoid about it now Looking at this closer, I think I could have been thrown off by the shoreline - the trees beyond it do look straight. Sorry to worry you :) Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 12, 2006 No worries, I'm glad you brought it up. That was one of the first things I learned here on PN, before that I never used to even consider a straight horizon and I sometimes forget to look for it. Colorado you say... Link to comment
