Guest Guest Posted December 14, 2005 I really like the casual and natural composition of this shot, and I like the way Mr. Uchida is looking into the lens. His expression could mean many things, I think. His hands look like the hands of someone who works with delicate mechanisms, and I like the way they cradle the camera, rather than just holding it. I think this is an extremely well done photograph. Link to comment
ZuikoD 0 Posted December 14, 2005 Yasumasa, your respect for photography and photographic history is evident in this photo. I often look for a representation of one important word, "relevance". Your photos are more than just mere snapshots of people, with the care and respect that you have for the subjects and the equipment, you photos become historical testaments of an era. On some of them, for future historians, you will make their lives misserable trying to decipher when were they taken given the poses, clothing and lens uses....:-) peace Link to comment

yasumasa_yanagisawa 0 Posted December 15, 2005 I am still wondering why favorable for such an ordinary and natural portrait. He is an excellent artisan of classic camera reparation. When I asked him to pose for my camera, he brought the same camera but smaller one, may be he repaired, showing full sympathy with both camera. This sympathy and his gentleness may correspond with all of you, I suppose. I am very happy that I became to know there are so many people who can "feel" or "read" photos. Thanks again. Guest Guest Posted December 19, 2005 You have answered your own question about "wondering why favorable for such an ordinary and natural portrait." Natural portraits often appear deceptively simple, when in fact, they are anything but simple. Lots of people think they can do it, but they cannot. You have done it admirably, although I will say that there is nothing whatsoever "ordinary" about this photograph. Link to comment
