anthony_m1 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Phil, this is an incredible image. The contrast between the blue sky, rocks and great color of the sand makes a wonderful combination. Well done! Link to comment
aaron_muderick 0 Posted December 11, 2005 I agree. The blues are too harsh. Tone that down and you'll be golden. Great photo. Excellent dynamic range. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted December 11, 2005 You can't have it all, but personally I would have liked to have seen more blue in the stream of water in the middle of the frame. With this much blue in the sky, a polarizer might have helped reduce the intensity of the reflection and maintained some of that sweet blue color to contrast with the sand. I'd go along with the crowd and agree that the saturation is too high. Even the rock on the right looks overdone, but you'll find examples of hypersaturation in my portfolio too :o) Pretty photo. Love the smooth shapes of the rocks and gentle flow of the water out to sea. Link to comment
phil morgan 0 Posted December 11, 2005 Thanks everyone for your comments. While I agree the saturation could be slightly over the top for some tastes I quite like it. But after all photography is a matter of personal opinion. Cheers. Link to comment
rajeevthomas 1 Posted December 11, 2005 Phil this is a great picture, I think the only concern is the sky blue is overly saturated, but the other tones are very good, regards, Rajeev Link to comment
phil morgan 0 Posted December 11, 2005 On the advice of the majority I have slightly reduced the saturation. What do you think? Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 11, 2005 I do really like this scene, composition. The water wandering out to the horizon with the dramatic sky is really effective. The saturation is still seems strong on my monitor. This could be a combination of different monitors as well as tastes. I do prefer the subdued. Well done on the photo. Link to comment
anthony_m1 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Saturation looks / looked no different than most of the Velvia images I see on here (see Vincent Tylers work). Looks great either way. Link to comment
phil morgan 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Thanks anthony, the velvia look was what I had in mind. But I can also see why some people didnt like the original, although in hindsight I think I still prefer it!! Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted December 13, 2005 Phil, overall this is a pleasing image with its smooth forms and pleasing composition. However, the over saturated sky doesn't work for me. It doesn't look like any sky I know and therefore looks rather fake; which might be fine if there were artistic aims accomplished by having it look fake. Anyway just some of my thoughts on this... cyrus khamak 0 Posted December 15, 2005 I love the colors in the foreground Phil, nice tones. Although it's crying for a bit of contrasting tones next to it, but I also understand that I can,t have everything. I don't necessarily have a problem with the color of the blue sky, just some of the clouds in it which shows the processing done, but that's an easy fix anyway. Regards. Link to comment
