Technically correct, but I find it is missing something to grab my attention. I find that you should concentrate on the ice and the contrast with the red. There is too much empty gray space around IMO. Also, not sure about the DOF. I would like to see the whole subject in sharp focus.

I wish the DOF was just a touch deeper but still not bad. Visiually, the color spearation of the background and the subject are not that far apart as to make it really stand out. But also, this isn't that bad. In all, a decent shot.

Just for fun, have you tried editing out the background and giving it a black background? I think it would realllly make the red pop. Might be interesting to see.
