I'm sure sarcastic quips from posters like Alex McVey (zero uploaded photos BTW) are greatly appreciated...

Interesting and distict image. My only critique would be that the left hand side of the frame feels a bit busy.

I like what you have done with this, dispite remarks otherwise. I like the metering and/or printing done with thise which was able to produce pure whites and contrast levels that compliment the image. The juxstaposition you've used which is complimented by the framing also makes this stand out.

As for Mr. McVey, no one is saying you aren't entitled to your opinion, infact if everyone loved every picture it would be boring. However, everyone is here to learn, no matter how much I dislike a photo I make it clear that it is my view and I never say that others are wrong for feeling otherwise. Saying something is 'terrible overall' is not only deconstructive but just downright demonstrates your foolishness to all. I agree there are photos on this site that don't receive the merit the deserve, but that doesn't mean those that do receive acclaim are rubbish.

well, Alex, try to think what kind of photo would you take if you woke up in the middle of the battlefield with an ole camera... I admit, this isn't the best of photojournalism but, hey, don't pretend you don't know why the ratings are so high

Describing you as visually immature is probably being kind.

This 'simple' photo (and its title)speak volumes.

You haven't recognized anything. Check out "1968, Czechoslovakia", if you have a dictionnary or a history book.

The picture is excellent, and telling. (I was there - I mean, here - then.)
