clives 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Cold morning at -25C .. need to go back when brain is thawed. Truying to keep hands and camera warm. Had camera set at f5.6 on this series. Ooops. Comments on tight crop of sky?? Thanks. Clive Link to comment
karen habbestad 0 Posted December 4, 2005 i think it's a good crop choice, lends to a nicely balanced photo. the warm golds lie, it certainly doesn't look as cold as it was ;-) i also like the two little trees lower right, and what appears to be fence posts in the distance. nice rhythm. stp 6 Posted December 5, 2005 I think the crop is perfect; the primary attention is directed to the hillside, with just enough sky to provide context. I grew up in country like this (eastern Montana), and your image evokes the memory. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 5, 2005 Clive, I bet you just knew I'd like the crop on this one. Good decision to minimize the sky here as it holds little of interest but it's muted colour. Beautiful shape defining light and many layers and diagonal lines elevate this one to winning status. Extra points for enduring the cold temperatures. I have a few in my 2004 folder taken under such conditions. Still haven't restored full circulation to my extremities:-) Best, LM. Link to comment
clives 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Thanks all. Len .. Thanks for your comments. I plan to get back (it's just ten minutes from the house) to the valley tomorrow or the next day. Feedback from others is good. One should not be swayed by others from how they feel about a scene BUT suggestions and other points of view are always helpful. Perspective. Holy Cow a guy here possibly OLDER than me! Looked at your folders... nice stuff. Winter is fun, but it's been a tad too cold here. Looks like sun and warming and I'll be there! Cheers! frederick eberhart 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Clive, this is a beauty! I like the balance of the sky and foreground, with the lines of the hills tying them together. The aspect ratio is plasing for this compostions as well. Great job! Link to comment
