susan stone 0 Posted December 3, 2005 I'm a big fan of your "boat series" but I found this one particulary interesting because of all the graphic imagery, there are several photos in this one. My eye is drawn continually to the tree and birds, excellent detail imparting a feeling of mystery and suspense. Link to comment

lucyhollis 2 Posted March 15, 2006 For sure one gets the idea of a foreboding storm. On the face of the photo, all is tranquil, but there is something definitely brewing underneath. It seems to me this comes from the fact that no element of the image is most important, so the birds, the clouds, the tree, its refelction, the lake, the boat, the man, his stick, are all silently fighting for your eye's attention. Subtly very stong. Link to comment
astral 7 Posted October 29, 2006 I find this a strange picture. The composition certainly isn't classically balanced, but it isn't actually balanced either. The reflection of the tree looks unnatural - no foreshortening, just an upsidedown tree. Then the cloud reflections don't seem natural either. I appreciate that this is a small low-res image and is therefore not shown at its best, but it looks very odd. That doesn't mean I don't like it - I do like parts of it, but not the whole picture .... mainly because it feels more like a piece of graphic art drawn with charcoal than a photograph .... Very nice, but somewhat unconvincing. I'd like to see it much bigger .... Link to comment
