studio 48 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Keep the moon or lose the moon, what do you think? You can see more in the folder without the moon. Link to comment
eric braswell 0 Posted December 12, 2001 I don't mind the moon there -- it's interesting, but I think it might be more compelling without it. The other shots without the moon I don't think are quite as nice. I do rather like the second one with the tower, but I wish there was more of the tower to give it some context and perspective. studio 48 0 Posted December 12, 2001 I placed the same photo in the northern lights folder with the moon taken out. Easier to compare it that way.http://photos.imageevent.com/stay_or_go/newenglandphotos/small/NL_00_with_no_moon.jpg Link to comment
wayne_suns 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Without the moon. It definitely draws the eyes away from the Northern Lights, the true subject of your photo. Maybe wait until the Northern Lights appear when the moon's behind you, and try to get a little moon-glow in the scenery. Link to comment
randy_spears1 0 Posted December 13, 2001 I vote for no moon. Without telling me it's the moon, it could be any light. The pics stronger without it. Link to comment
philip_coggan 0 Posted December 13, 2001 Moon? Looks like an oncoming express train! If you want a moon (and I agree it would add to the photo), better try for one that looks more lunar. Link to comment
studio 48 0 Posted December 13, 2001 I did not add the moon, it was there. In the second pic, I cropped it out. Thanks to all for your comments. I am still not sure which one I like better. Link to comment
grizzlymarmot 0 Posted December 13, 2001 Keep the moon! Night sky gazing is all about conjunctions and occultations and eclipses. The more elements in the picture the more mystical and astrologically significant it becomes. Without the moon its just an astrophysical phenomenon Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted December 31, 2001 WOW!!!! This whole folder is awesome. We are coming up for our 25 aniversary this next year...and are trying to figure out when would be the best time. I like the moon. Gives it a complete feeling. Link to comment
antonio iacovelli 0 Posted January 6, 2002 The trouble with your cropped moon-less version is that you also eliminate some of the trees that frame and add depth to your shot. I'm giving you a nine for originality on account of your braving the -30'C temperature. Most people would have chickened out. :-) Link to comment
