Guest Guest Posted November 29, 2005 good theme fit for me. minor quibble-either change the #'s or blur them a bit since its a posting on the net I think we would all understand.(tons of freaks out here). I also like the yellowed lines running down the flyer and the of to the left of the pole/flyer as well as the background cars for context. Knicki Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted November 29, 2005 With Knicky here. Good theme fit! I do find the bright pink (graffiti?) a tad distracting. Regards, Tom Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted November 29, 2005 Bright pink grafitti is distracting for me also. One other nitpick is the fact that I find that this photo need a little more space on the top. The writing is a little too close to the edge for my own taste. Regarding the theme fit, it is excellent. I guess we would feel it even better if we could see another lamp post in the background with the same reward sign on it. Nonetheless, a great find PT. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted November 29, 2005 Knicki, good to see your comment :). Your suggestion about the phone number implemented. Thanks. Stephane I agree with you that some more space on the top would have been good. However, as far as Tom and Stephane's comment about the grafitti goes I strongly disagree. When you are on the street you are documenting what is there. There is no option of erasing it -- it is what gives the context. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted November 30, 2005 I particularly like the rusty streaks and apart from a bit more space at the top, I'd say PT has done everything right. Having said that, more space on the right might work well too - giving us space to imagine the lost cat roaming into (empty street or on the contrary a busy, threatening place with lots of traffic). Good theme fit, which reminds me of this photo in PT's Hope folder. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted November 30, 2005 I think this is an excellent interpretation and have no major quibbles with comp or lighting. I would prefer a tad less space left, other than that - a fine effort, PT. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted December 1, 2005 I am here completely OK.The idea, execution is fine. The space around is important for the story. well done, cheers Jana Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted December 1, 2005 So... are we back to the starting point? PT Hope Assignment Yup... I'm still a casual PT observer. Glad to see it's still going strong with lots of fantastic images!!! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 2, 2005 obviously there is a PT cat burgler .. for shame PT there are better ways to get a shot then steal kitty cats and then shoot their reward posters. Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Ohh... to be fair I should at least offer a critique on the image as well: Theme fit is great. In general I don't like images with modern cars that become too much a part of the scene, but you did a nice job of bluring these out to an extent that they are less bothersome. They do also help define time and place, but they still just are not my favorite. I don't mind the graffiti, and especially like the orange streaks. They add a real sense of sadness highlighting time and suggesting likely lost "Hope". Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Ha.. somehow I missed Dominique's link... I was surprised no one had pointed it out yet... duh... Link to comment
andre_mcnichols 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Nice interpretation of the theme, very well executed. The bright pink drawing on the pole doesn't bother me at all, it's part of life like lost pets and rain leaving rust lines on old posters. I can also imagine other lines, traced on a child's cheek by tears over a lost pet. Andre Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Thanks for the comments and the link to the earlier submission. Just to clarify -- no kitties were kitty-napped and or harmed by this PT for this submission :). Link to comment
