ralton 0 Posted November 23, 2005 Hi there! I like this photo, my only gripe would be the bright, out-of-focus area on the left. Did you actually use the hammer to smash the bulb??Cheers! Link to comment
onyo__ 0 Posted November 23, 2005 I'm not sure I like the reflective surface used or not. Not sure what I would use in it's place though. While the hammer head adds some visual weight, I find it somewhat distracting. It seems obvious, to me, that the pieces of the bulb were laid down in this manner after being broken by the hammer. Too contrived for me. I do like the lighting overall (which probably wouldn't have worked without the reflective surface, so I guess the surface is ok after all) and the theme fit works well also.Onyo- Link to comment
seven 0 Posted November 23, 2005 I like this concept. The toning underlines the sense of delicacy. The hammer is unneccesary - point is made without it (though a part of me thinks the inclusion heightens tacit textural contrast as in hard/ soft.) Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted November 24, 2005 I like it better without the hammer - it seems quite dynamic while being static (I like that). Nicely executed overall - the reflective surface adds interest IMO. If you remove the hammer and do some tweaking to the composition-witout-hammer, it would be excellent. Link to comment
disneyry 0 Posted November 24, 2005 I like the version without the hammer better than the original. I also like the use of the mirror. However, I feel that the large contrast in the lighting and fact that the reflection of the wall is in focus distracting to the overall image. Link to comment
mandar1 0 Posted November 25, 2005 PT, the idea is great and I echo what others have already said that the V2 works better. I curious as to what the bottom surface is. Thanks. Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Late to teh game here. I agree with the others: better without the hammer. Light and texture on the background are a tad distracting. Personally I would like to see a bit more space on top; the edge of the lamp is a bit too close to the border I think. Apart from that: good idea and well executed! I like the slant/diagonal in the composition! Tom Link to comment
htc 0 Posted November 25, 2005 me too i like this one without the hammer; Can the focus be improved on left side? looks a little bit blurry. cheer, calin Link to comment
HuskyMason1 18 Posted November 27, 2005 I think the hammer adds the element of anger to the photograph and without it it could just be another whooops moment. Don't you like GE or did the bulb not last one year as advertised? Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted November 27, 2005 Good idea, PT; it fits the theme well. I agree the hammer is not necessary but it adds weight to the photo. Nicely done. The lighter left of the photo seems a bit too bright for balance, though I agree that it's necessary for the composition. Well done. Link to comment
silvertip 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Nicely done PT. I too like the shot without the hammer. I'd crop the left some, letting the glass trail off the photo.Chuck Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 2, 2005 I much prefer the hammerless shot. My only suggestion would be to put something other than the ceiling above your mirrored surface so that you get something other than drywall texture. Link to comment
