A Pearing

Janet, you have a very nicely done still life. The purist will take issue with the artistic manipulation, but I feel that you have handled it extremely well. The manipulation and the texture work very well for this image, although it would work as well as a straight image. As far as composition, I feel it is more suited to an 8x10 format. The only thing I dislike, and this is a personal problem I am obviously in the minority on this issue, is the desaturated vignette. Local color or spot color seldom works beyond being a gimmick. I just think this image, particularly with the wonderful sunny colors is more than capable of standing on its own merit, so I hate to see the vignette.
