Just nude-but what a nude! It's something more then great picture , it's kind of performance. It's a little shocking (cross and naked body) but works great. I hope that she's ok;-)

Thank you for sharing.

Don't like it, just more shock/anti-religious photography. David, why do you assume the religous 'right' want anything to do with this, like this photo is attacking them, and Ben, calling the Irish sad, you have made your comment on the photo, now shut up and act like a grown up, and post some photo's.

Anything that turns organized religion on it's head is a good thing, well done. A bit tame though it gets the message across.

I guess she tied herself to the cross on the ground then you hoisted the cross on the chains.

Only nitpick is the shadow cast across the cross.

Good lighting and colour, reminds me of the Irish catholic sex problems, sad people they are.

Gorgeous model.

Whether people like the shot or not, it's obvious you've gone to a LOT of trouble to bring it altogether, Frank. You've lit the subject very well. Very attractive model by the way.

Another idea, using the same prop, is to take the shot against a very dark, or black background and much more subdued lighting just to see what kind of effect this has.

I do agree with one of the other people, Frank, that the chains take a lot away from the image (I realize, of course, that they're necessary : crosses and models can't levitate). Thing is, the photo has an almost surreal quality to it, which could make for a specularly different photo than those we're used to seeing. The chains, unfortunately, prevent that from happening. In other words, the cross is simply attached to the ceiling instead of appearing "suspended" in space.

S-o-o-o, what if you layed the cross and the model on the ground? If you placed a brick or something under the cross where the two boards meet, this would even creat a shadow on the floor beneath giving a sense of depth. Anyhow, just a couple of ideas, and not necessarily great ones. Great pic as is, Frank, and highly original.

I believe the legend has it that St. Peter wanted to be crucified upside down because he wasn't worthy to be crucified like the Master. To be more accurate however, the cross also should be upside down. (And the green would be a reference to St. Patrick. Hmmmm....)

This is serious stuff! Where does one start? My first reaction as on many of these images at PN, is the full nude image. By and large full nude images absolutely stop you in your tracks, and this one slams on the brakes. But of course this image has far more to it than just the fully nude model. How about these two? First, one arm is longer than the other, and two, her hair seems to be falling over her eye rather than to the floor. Then, there is the choice of green as a background and prop color. Although it's hard to determine the real objective in an image like this, it is very striking, in the strictest sense of the term.

For all the work in this, especially by the model (I have been hoisted upside down for a photo before... it is not a comfortable thing to do) the result, and your intent, still seems sort of vague. It's a cheerful, Christmasy kind of green (nice giftwrapping on the cross!) and the light doesn't come across as particularly epic. It's lit like fashion, palette like an advertisement but the religion, and the naked thing... well, it doesn't really come together, now does it?

You're two for two with this pose: inverted, legs akimbo, what's that all about? Maybe you just wanted to entertain your friend. She looks very entertained.

Maybe you could post a treatise on this. Let us know just what you're thinking... t

Interesting color contrast. The story of the image is left to the viewer's imagination. Not unappealing, but I hope I don't see this in my dreams tonight.

Frank, Great image! The Irish Virgin crucified for her impure Irish thoughts. It also occurs to me that this represents the letters T. V., which leaves room for many, many thoughts about this age of communication we live in and the power of the religious right over the content of our media. Cheers, Raymond

This photo is competently done but I am struggling to find it's artistic merit. I agree with Tom that the message is vague (too bright and cheery to meaningfully suggest crucifixtion). It is difficult to take this photo seriously as anything other than a feeble attempt to shock the viewer or malign religion.

To me the person is upsdide down, but the cross is still the correct way up, and is bordering just on a cross at that. Rather than any Religious significance, looks more like some Bondage shot.

For me the shot comes across as sex not religion.

I don't know how far right I am, but I am religous and I like it. I agree that the chains are distracting. Here is a QUICK "PAINT" job on the chains. This was done at work in a rush with only microsoft PAINT to work with but it would be easy to touch-up the chains and make them disapear.
