Guest Guest Posted November 17, 2005 We'll miss you! So what does that make me, if I love this photo? I think it's a terrific capture, and certainly a pleasing way to showcase this particular bird :~) Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Thank you Kim. I have been sitting on this photo for some time because I thought it would get a poor reception. I have seen good photos of beautiful birds get totally hammered. And lets face it this is a vulture. Maybe I was wrong because its done better than I expected. I guess as vultures go he isn't half bad. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 20, 2005 Yeah, you could have photographed him in his natural habitat...devouring roadkill. Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted November 20, 2005 You know I have actually seen a few roadkill photos posted on photo.net. They were awful. Thats one genre I'll take a pass on. Link to comment
lgreene 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I am glad you did post this-it is very good. Composition, the colors and the background are lovely. They are not the most ornate birds but they are still cool to watch flying or sunning themselves or kissing. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 22, 2005 And yours aren't perched on roadkill either! Great shot! Link to comment

mcgarity 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Thank you Leann. I saw this guy way off in the distance sunning himself on that fence. I had to walk quite a ways to get close to him and just knew he was going to fly away before I in position for a decent shot. But he surprised me and I was able to get within about 100 feet before he decided that was close enough. Thats a very nice shot you have. I would love to have seen it in person. Thats just not behaviour you normally associate with these birds. Link to comment
