Coho 2 Posted November 19, 2005 This is very nice! The light, colour, and composition are wonderful. I noticed you used 3 filters. Why? With the sun as low as it is, wouldn't the circular polorizer simply act as a neutral density filter? Since this is PS'd, couldn't you achieve the same results with white balance manipulation or other PS attributes? BTW, the 4 images showing your process are a superb learning tool. Thanks. (Isn't it time for Brooklyn to bring back the Dodgers?) Link to comment
yongbo 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Thanks again for the comments. Hi David, the circular polarizer not only cut the reflection from the surface of the water, but also avoid the over exposure at the lower half. I am using the cheapest DSLR and Grad Gray filters, but the CPL is the most expensive one from Hoya. The multi-coating can reduce the lens flares and ghosting (none on this shot). The only PS filter that I used is the USM, the rest was done during the RAW conversion, changed the temperature, tint, saturation and hue on each channel, didn't touch the exposure. The colors can't get alone that easy, and you have to watch the noise level as well. Neat Image won't work in this case. Walter and Vincent know the real PS tricks. The data:Temperature: 3050Tint: -15Exposure: 0.00Shadows: 5Brightness: 15Contrast: +25Saturation: +100Shadow Tint: 0Red Hue: +100Red Saturation: -75Green Hue: 0Green Saturation: +25Blue Hue: -25Blue Saturation: +100No clue about the Dodgers, have to ask my 8 years old nephew.
