colin carron 58,916 Posted November 20, 2005 Thanks Sondra, Amar, mike, Camila, Cherlyn, Heather, Ilse, Ghiga, Matt, Paula, Carsten and Jana! Sondra, yes why not? come and reawaken those memories of England! mike, I find it interesting how many institutions like this one start off saying one thing (poverty, hard work etc) and end up doing exactly the oppoaite (wealth ,leisure)! Camilla, one of the nice things about the place is seeing the views of the coutryside through all the ruined arches. Ilse, a good guess - Tintern Abbey is very similar. Ghiga, I took a shot very like the crop you made but it was not high enough to include the top of the arch. Paula, I find the past an inspiration. It is ,after all, just people who were born earlier than us. Carsten yes indeed, there she is and my son too somewhere though he is not in this shot. But they know that when the camera comes out I will possibly not be giving them my full concentration! Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Damn again. Did I say perspective? Damn again... Does that 10mm ever come off your camera? I hope not... Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 20, 2005 David, thanks, I am making great efforts to get it off the camera. I started using the Canon 70-200 f/4 L lens. It is so good I became dissatisfied with my mid-range zoom and have sold it. So I am down to only rwo lenses now. Not a lot of choice! Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted November 21, 2005 Magnificent view of a magnificent architecture under a magnificent sky. In brief, this is... heu... magnificent! Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 21, 2005 Magnificent dramatic exposure of a real English looking churchbuilding(or the restant of it). I love the perspective and the great sky in this mighty shot. Greetings, Ada:) Link to comment

home page1 0 Posted November 26, 2005 An interesting subject rendered very imposing by the wide ange view and excellent perspective. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 27, 2005 Yes - the perspective (trademark!) is wonderful! I also like where you placed the sun. Very nice! Link to comment
bradfarlow 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Another wonderful example of the creative use of perspective! Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted February 24, 2006 Great angle. You get a feeling for the whole church, and though it has an omnious forboding feeling, for the dark top left hand corner I think, the envolping structure is comforting too. Link to comment
