The Old Dee Bridge at high tide

Converted to Sepia Tones in photoshop - oh, and I couldn't resist removing a Traffic Light to give the image a more nostalgic feel!

I converted this colour image to sepia in photoshop, and removed a Traffic Light to give this

image a more nostalgic feel. This is a Mediaeval bridge built on Roman foundations in the

city of my birth Chester (hence the nostalgic appeal). The photograph was taken at the year's

highest tide, and the drift wood in the foreground has been trapped by the Mediaeval weir

which markes the extent of the tidal stretch of the Dee....but what do you think of the

photograph?

Isn't that wood collecting by the hydroelectric, or whatever, station at that end of the bridge? I never used to like the stuff that gathered there.

The treatment of the subject is pretty much perfect.

Once again you bring back the almost forgotten (and for some lamented) aesthic of the 19th century. Reminds me of Talbot Fox. Keep it up.

I like the pile of driftwood stuck on the weir! The washed out sky is a feature seen on a lot of old postcards and lantern slides as the exposure latitude of old emulsions wasn't up to recording land and sky.

Good job on the traffic light though the first traffic light appeared in London in 1869, was lit by gas and eventually exploded injuring the policeman who worked it (ain't google wonderful!).
