I think you were on to somthing, thighter corp would have helped and a cool tone. Try shooting the same subject from different angles, then you give yourself some choices when making the final edit.

Well seen. And I like how everything is almost monochromatic. I would crop left or right a little, so the legs wouldn't be so dead center. But well seen....

I personally like the warm tone, but I agree that putting the hooves off center or seeing them from a different angle might be an improvement. Just for kicks (no pun intended), try cropping it square from the right side, removing the leftmost 1/3 or so of the image.
